so long paddy...

news in today that the gunners have sold our captain, patrick vieira to juventus for a measly 20 million euros. shocker, considering we turned down a 45 million euro offer last summer from madrid. ah well, maybe arsene does know best, especially with the emergence of fabregas and flamini last season. our midfield will be a little wussy tho...maybe wenger has essien lined up?

anyway, a final rendition of your song (to the tune of "volare" - dean martin) for you paddy...

VI-EI-RA, OH OH AH OH!
VI-EI-RA, OH OH AH OH!
HE COMES FROM SE-NE-GAL,
HE PLAYS FOR AR-SE-NAL!
VI-EI-RA, OH OH AH OH!
VI-EI-RA, OH OH AH OH!

well...my vote for the new captain is va va voom. he's mature enough to handle it now.

in happier news, the washington wizards finally got rid of kwame "jordan hurt my feelings" brown for caron butler and someone. awesome.

oh...french news alert:

"In the wake of last week's terrorist attrocities in London, the French President, Jacques Chirac, has officially raised the French security alert from "Run" to "Hide". There are only two higher levels in France, "Surrender" and "Collaborate". The rise was seen as inevitable after a recent fire destroyed France's only white flag factory - effectively crippling their military."

damien rice - "unplayed piano"

does real madrid remind you of any team in america you've heard about?

anyway, go to itunes, napster, sony-connect, or your local record store and pick up "unplayed piano" the new single by damien rice (of theme song to the movie closer fame). the song's a tribute to aung san suu kyi on her 60th birthday. it's only $0.99 and will support the burma campaign.

there's also an associated video that'll take some time to download (22 mb).
