puppy?

not getting my hopes up yet, but my roommates and i might be getting a doggie tomorrow. he's a labrador mix...black with white chest and white feet...5 months old...currently named "chino" but to be re-named "dignan". i say might because the shelter we're getting the pup from doesn't do holds, so someone might snatch him up today(!). that's why i haven't posted a picture yet.

alrighty, in other news, i agree with lupica when he finds it ridiculous that we (yankee fans) have been reduced to cheering wildly at NOT being swept by those queenies from flushing. ok, we got a win, and i'm sounding jaded, but we're still 6.5 game behind the now 1st place redsox who're getting curt "shut the fuck up" schilling back soon. maybe it'll be a start of something? some consistency? who knows, but i'm looking forward to this next series @ camden yards.

ok, good news on the arsenal FC front. we're neck and neck in the race for the next football superstar with real madrid. you might ask why a brazillian would rather live in london with gilberto silva than madrid with ronaldo and roberto carlos, and the answer would be, "robinho would rather go to spain." BUT, apparently his current club (santos) don't like madrid's transfer fee negotiation techniques for the player. SOOOO, some say arsenal are actually ahead in the race. saaaweeeeet. if we get him tho, it might mean the end for bobby pires which would be sad...

oh what? no pictures in the previous 3 posts? ok, here you go...

the espn espys

HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

it's pretty easy to not take an award show where one of the categories is "best bowler" seriously, but check out the ballot for "best soccer player."

- Landon Donovan
- Mia Hamm
- Eddie Johnson
- Birgit Prinze
- Ronaldinho

i guess it is an american awards show...silly.

oh, btw, it sucks being a yankee fan this year. fucking sucks.

haven't written in a turn music off button yet, so i've taken out the embedded music. it's pretty annoying when you're already listening to music on the computer.

aung san sui kyi

alright, so i'm posting an e-mail i received this morning.
DO IT.

U S C A M P A I G N F O R B U R M A A C T I O N A L E R T

Dear friends of freedom in Burma,

Here is a quick and easy action that only takes one minute to help free Aung
San Suu Kyi. Please spread this action as far and wide as you can!

Craig Graydon, USCB member from Atlanta, Georgia, has suggested that
EVERYONE who cares about human rights and democracy nominate Aung San Suu
Kyi for the ABC News Person of the Week. You can do so by clicking here:
http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/PersonOfWeek/story?id=64509

Below is a sample letter you can include for your nomination, though we
STRONLY encourage you to write a few sentences of your own instead of simply
re-pasting this. Be sure to include that Aung San Suu Kyi is the world's
only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize recipient and that June 19th is her 60th
birthday. You can possibly include what you are doing to celebrate her
birthday. Be sure to state that she is a hero to the people of Burma but
also to the world. Be creative!

"Dear ABC News,

I'm writing to nominate the world's only imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize
recipient--Aung San Suu Kyi--to be ABC News Person of the week. This
Sunday, June 19th, is her 60th birthday, and just as citizens around the
world rallied to free Nelson Mandela on his 70th birthday when his was
imprisoned in 1988, the world is rallying to demand her freedom. In spite
of great danger, she continues to lead Burma's democracy movement with
incredible charisma, compassion, and bravery.

I work at __________ and Aung San Suu Kyi is a hero to me because _______.

Sincerely,

Your Name"

That's it! Please send a quick note to: info@uscampaignforburma.org to let
us know that you wrote a nomination!

did i not say this...

"...And although "Twisted Logic" may be an obvious Radiohead rip-off (with a title that sounds alarmingly Fred Durst-ish), the members find ways to build suspense while progressing toward that inevitable crashing climax... " - Kelefa Sanneh, Rolling Stone Magazine

i just read that and HAH, i can be a music writer...altho i don't believe my writing is as eloquent and fancy-adjective-using and record-industry-influenced as those rolling stone people.

anyway, in other news, michael jackson was cleared of all charges. i guess cartman was right.

R_Lesr = (-4e6)*L^2 + 15362*L

that's right, i found the relation between the inductance value (L in H) and the equivalent series resistance in DC (R_Lesr in ohms) for a P1330 series inductor by API Delevan.

exciting no?

anyway, it's my lunch break and i'm gonna write in this blog a little bit because i haven't written anything in the past week.

my professor is at a conference in brazil (hah, "conference"), so i'm having a hard time getting motivated to do work...altho there are looming deadlines for two of my projects. the folks are in london right now so i get to talk to them more often now which is nice (except dad, because he talks shit about the yanks). they'll be coming over to the states late june so i'll probably make it over to the nyc for a week after they arrive. after that, i need to get a car so we can drive around when they come visit me in boulder. being in boulder, i'm looking at subaru's, and i'm quite a fan of the impreza sport wagon...

my dad (born 1939) says he wants to drive to vegas when he comes out to visit. my mom's not too excited about the idea :). problem is that they'll be coming out in august (after my project deadlines), but i was planning on spending a few weeks in the north-west during that time, especially in the emerald city...

we'll see what happens.

in other news, i've decided not to be a douche and i'm going to start calling the yankees the yankees instead of the wankees, and i'm going to start calling alex rodriguez a-rod instead of gAy-rod.

i have 4 free tickets to yonder mountain string band in telluride, CO on wednesday, but seeing as how it's an 8 hour drive and i have no car, my roommates work, i'm probably not going to make it.

sell him!!!

so it's monday, and i got bollocks all done this past weekend. new coldplay album comes out tomorrow, heard some live tracks on mtv last night, and you can listen to the full album on mtv's "the leak" website. it's pretty good, first listen. some of the songs sound too damn U2ish, but a lot are pretty good good good. i think overall, someone who liked "a whisper" off of a rush of blood to the head will really like the tracks on X & Y. my favourite track right now is "a message". "twisted logic", on the other hand, sounds like it belongs on radiohead's 1993 effort, pablo honey. i love that album, but seriously...

anywho, below is a picture of arsenal's new kit for next year. it's styled after the kits worn by the gunners when they first moved to highbury...and they'll be worn the last year the gunners play there before their move to ashburton grove. kinda cool, but i don't particularly like it (except for AW's swanky suit of course!). so what this means is that i'd better get my hands on this years kit because after next year, when the gunners move, the sponsorship will be "fly emirates" (currently chel$ki's) instead of "O2". bollocks to that. you may also be wondering why there's text and an arrow pointed to ashley cole's face. it's because he's a bastard and a liar. i hear madrid and barca are interested...sell the wanker!!!

not too pleased...

pissy

what a load of bollocks.

1) apparently chel$ki aren't getting the -3 deduction, it's a "suspended" penalty that will only come into effect if colegate happens again. bollocks.

2) $200 million can't buy you a win against the worst team in baseball.

don't get too excited hideki, it's just a fly-out.

3) thunderstorms today...no footie :(.

4) my 4-switch buck-boost dc-dc power converter isn't working. i hate school.

frick.

june is here and there's shit to be done. too much work. i wish i could just go to sleep and a montage would play of all the hard work i did on my research projects and come mid-july, all my shit would be done (and done well!).

anyway, in good news, the chick at "hair rage international" cut my hair way too short and chel$ki start the next premiership season at -3 pts! well done ashley, well done.

don't get me started on the wankees...
